Homecoming Talk

Hey everyone! My name is Corinne, and I recently returned from serving as a missionary in the Kentucky Louisville Mission for these past 18 months. The decision to serve came when I was about 15. My family decided to go on a church history tour that year, which included a stop at the Hill Cumorah site. There were two sister missionaries, one of whom was wearing a pair of cowgirl boots. Me being me, of course, went up to the one sister to compliment her boots, and she proceeded to tell me the story behind them. She was a convert to the church. A friend of hers had introduced her to missionaries, and she wanted to be baptized, but her family was against it. They told her that if she was baptized, she would be disowned. She made the decision to be baptized and was cut off from her family. She went to stay with the friend’s family on their farm, where they were all boys. The first piece of girl’s clothing she received was that same pair of cowgirl boots. Those boots represented a lot of di...

Gratitud Por Lo Que Ya Tenemos

Hola a todos! Feliz lunes! Ok, here we go! Officially summa!!! Aka blowdryer heat in your face, random monsoons, prime firefly hunting season (im licensed dw), all you can eat watermelon, andddd beach volleyball my personal favorite. Summer pretty much makes every aspect of my life better except for door knocking...but hey thats why theres thorntons. Me and hermana beebs have been working hard this past week to find new friends, its been a rough few weeks without a lot of success, but this week we set a goal for 7 and smashed it. We tried lots of different spots for door knocking, contacted referrals, and reached out to people who were past referrals. Lots of prayers, doors, and calls later, God got us to our goal. He seems to love when we set goals, make plans, and then act on them, because when we do so, He always pours out blessings upon blessings  Before I jump into this week, just a couple miracles last week cause someone forgot to write: we drove into Georgetown for the first...

El Siempre Tiene Una Razon

Hola hola!!! Feliz lunes I know yall have been so deprived of emails lately, poor things, but I've got a lot to tell yall so better buckle up guys First of all, we had transfers a few weeks ago and me and Hermana leebert are going for a fourth together and still in lexington!!! It's already the third week of the transfer and zc is this week which I can't even fathom, time is literally flying.  Summer has been kinda wack, it rained so hard we couldn't see the road while we drove and I was the tiniest bit scared. But these past few days have been perfect, also the fireflies are officially here, my favorite time of year. We had exchanges on Tuesday and Sister Walter came to norte for the day. Since it was Tuesday she got to spend an hour talking to Gloria, for reference Gloria is a 90 yr old cubana lady who will say whatever comes to mind and finds joy in making fun of us, definitely a highlight of my day. Poor sis Walter doesn't speak Spanish so she pretty much had no...

Que Dios Prevalezca

Hey everyone!!! Feliz lunes! Few important updates: we back on the watermelon grind, it's honestly so good for no reason. Also bought lemons to make lemonade and the farmers tan is coming along nicely, happy almost summer:) Ok don't got a lot of time so ill make this one a lil short lets run it back  first of all soccer night and english class are getting so many people, it's crazy that only a few weeks ago only one or two people were showing up and now we've got like 15! Big things  Our past two lessons with our friend Luis have been SO good. We taught resto and half of plan of salvation and he's just got so many thoughts and comments that blow me away. He's honestly one of the kindest, genuine people youll meet. He's also cracked at soccer and said he would give us free boxing lessons. Last week we had a lesson about the Gospel of Jesus Christ with our friend Teresa, she's so cute, reminds me of mamá liz from Louisville. We had been planning on maybe a...

Hey howdy hey!!!  I think I'm qualified to say that now that I'm in LEXINGTON!!! Horse country, more like horse heaven. We're one week into a new transfer already, new area and comp, but it's been about 3 weeks since I last wrote eek lets run it back.  First of all, need to say that I love and miss jasper with all my heart. That ward and the friends we taught made a big impact on my life, so so grateful for the time i got to serve there. Also I love hermana romero so much and I already miss her a ton. She was just coming out of training when she came to jasper, but you would not be able to tell at all. She's got missionary work down, amazing teacher, loves the work, and knew how to have fun. That girl was constantly making me laugh:) love you chica!!! My new comp isn't actually really new hahaha, me and Hermana leebert are back together serving in lex norte! We were comps back in the old days of Louisville lol, it's been SO much fun being comps again and se...

Eres Creado Para El Gozo

hey hey!!! Feliz lunes! I don't have a ton of time so this is gonna be short, (for a first lol). The transfer ends this week which is crazy, it's been such a good one, and I've loved serving with Hermana romero, she has taught me so much and knows how to constantly keep me laughing hahaha. This past week was a lot of general conference invites and lessons, and then of course general conference. It's crazy because a year ago I was watching it with my trainer and the Alders, time needs to hold her horses. But conference was SO GOOD! I honestly think of it as my little vacation on the mission because it's so nice to be able to just sit and listen to the Spirit. We had an amazing experience with our friend Katherine who came and watched the last session with us. We had invited her to church once before and she liked it but didn't say much about it. She comes to English class all the time so we always end up talking to her and we ended up inviting her to watch the co...

TRANSFER NEWS  hermana jackson left me for lexington kentucky aka horse country:) I'm so excited for her, she was trained here in jasper so this will be her first big change, but I already know how blessed the people of lexington will be. This girl taught me true diligence and how to push yourself outside your comfort zone. She gave her all day in and day out, and I'm grateful God put her in my life right when I needed her the most. I can't wait to see all the good she does, gonna miss ya girl!!!  My new comp is hermana romero, she's the sweetest, funniest person I've ever met, and she was trained in my baby area hurstbourne:). You already know how much we've fangirled over louisville, I still miss that place, it'll always be like a second home, but jasper has definitely stolen my heart. Hermana Romero spoke spanish as her first language, she speaks perfe...
