El Siempre Tiene Una Razon
Hola hola!!! Feliz lunes
I know yall have been so deprived of emails lately, poor things, but I've got a lot to tell yall so better buckle up guys
First of all, we had transfers a few weeks ago and me and Hermana leebert are going for a fourth together and still in lexington!!! It's already the third week of the transfer and zc is this week which I can't even fathom, time is literally flying.
Summer has been kinda wack, it rained so hard we couldn't see the road while we drove and I was the tiniest bit scared. But these past few days have been perfect, also the fireflies are officially here, my favorite time of year.
We had exchanges on Tuesday and Sister Walter came to norte for the day. Since it was Tuesday she got to spend an hour talking to Gloria, for reference Gloria is a 90 yr old cubana lady who will say whatever comes to mind and finds joy in making fun of us, definitely a highlight of my day. Poor sis Walter doesn't speak Spanish so she pretty much had no idea what was going on but tried to help out, she's a trooper
Tuesday night we had dinner with the flores family who have the cutest dog and the best mexican food ever, after we had english class and had lots of people show up, it's been amazing to see how much we've gotten it to grow, and now we're starting to teach some of the students the gospel!!!
Wednesday we exchanged back and had lunch with the other hermanas at a member Lesbia's house and then did a come follow me study with her. I had to sign up for classes eek so we spent a while at the library and did not get shushed this time (apparently i have a loud library voice, im working on it) Then we went home and called our new friend Emejido and had such a good beginning lesson. Hermana beebs brought up the five principles of the gospel that we teach and after he asked about baptism and how he could be baptized!!! It was just a phone call so me and Hermana keebert were staring at each other like huh?? Then, as calmly as possible, we said yeah we can help you with that! We talked about the Book of Mormon with him and how he can come to know for himself that it's true and he's really curious about it!!! This lesson was also after an hour of door knocking and not finding anyone, so having that experience really helped us remember that there are elect people everywhere! God's always preparing His children, but it's going to happen in His time and His way.
Ok next day we had another miracle with our friend Maria! I love that lady, we've been teaching her for about a month and that day we planned on teaching her the Gospel of Jesus Christ and maybe inviting her to be baptized. She's been doing so good with reading the BoM and paying attention during lessons, ans she's always got questions which we love! Anyways we taught her GoJC with uno cards of course and after we asked if she had any questions and she asks about being baptized!!! She wasn't ready to set a date, but definitely has the desire!
Later that day we did some door knocking in a trailer park and there was one car with a Honduras flag in it, so we decided to knock it claro. This lady opened it and let us in right away, she definitely thought we were JWs but we shared a message and gave her a copy of the BoM which she seemed super excited about! Her name was Jameliet, we gave her our info to reach out and she said we could come back any time!
Friday we had a really good district council about the Spirit in missionary work, and then got pizza together at the smashin tomatoes 10/10 highly recommend. Because the church is kinda far away for us, we decided to go back and do personal study outside. This African American lady ended up coming up to us and talking to us for like 45 min, she made us promise to look up who replaced Moses after he died, she seemed serious, so we told her we would. Haven't looked it up yet but if yall have any idea leave a comment down below por fa
After that we did a lot of door knocking and had a lesson/visit with our friend Adelina. We'd stopped teaching them, but we ran into them at Walmart and they wanted us to visit. We had to be kinda upfront about why we do studies, she said she'd talk to her husband and see if this was something they wanted. We shared a short verse and then knocked more doors and found our friend Eddy. He's younger, probably 18, but super nice, kinda shy, but he was open to hearing a message and accepted a BoM!
Saturday was probably one of the best days of my mission. We got up in the morning and went straight to hermana bobadilla who gave us a ride to the temple. We got to do baptisms with our new member friends Aldo and Junior and the other hermanas friend Ivan who was baptized a week ago! Some of them brought family names which was so cool! After baptisms we ran to an initiatory session and I got to do one for one of my ancestors. I hadn't done initiatories for a while, so it felt so good to be back doing them again. Hermana bobadilla was in an endowment session, so we tried to do a sealing, but there weren't enough people, so instead we got to sit in the celestial room for a while. After that we did some contacting while we waited for hermana bobadilla, and then we drove home. She got us Wendy's on the way bless her heart we were all starving, and then had a mini Disney karaoke jam session. When we got back to her house hermana bobadilla gave us a salsa lesson, catch us on next season so you think you can dance, but yeah pretty solid day and definitely much needed.
Sunday we had Relief Society and we sat next to the elders new friend Mireya who's moving into our area, she was so sweet, se helped her download the gospel library app so she could follow along in the talk, but she couldn't stay for sacrament because she thought it lasted an hour cry. But we spent most of sacrament meeting playing with Laurieth's kids, they're so cuteee we love them. We had a coordination meeting yay, haven't had one in a few weeks and then did some personal study before driving to the bobadillas for dinner.
Today's been kinda crazy, me and hna beebs are exhausted at the moment because we played pickleball with the district this morning and definitely slayed, but yall should be proud of me for writing this before I fall asleep on the floor lol.
For my spiritual thought I just want to share some of the insights and things I've learned recently:
-God is a "for" and "because" God. He does everything for a reason and can make everything work for our good if we trust Him. Whatever you go through it's for ___ or because ___, and if you can't fill in the blanks now, trust in the "for" and "because"
-borrowed light vs enduring light, I read two books with those titles and I've always remembered them because it reminds me of what true testimony and conversion looks like. You can share light but you can't share oil, you need your own. Borrowing light isn't a bad thing, that's what I did for a long time before I knew for myself, and that's part of the reason why we try to be examples to those around us, because they need that light to encourage them to find their oil and have their own enduring light.
-don't keep Jesus to yourself, His word is meant to be shared, give people the opportunity to believe in Him
-I love the story of Jesus flipping tables when He cleansed the temple, He knew how to "bridle His passions" and let His voice be heard when He needed to stand up for something, so pretty much, when you feel the need, be a table flipper
-God plans miracles every day
-where there's God's will, there's a way, He's a waymaker
-one of God's why's will always be because He loves you
Ok if you made it this far good job, but to all of yall just know that I love you and God loves you more!!!
XOXO,
hermana neil
