Confiar En Él

Hey everyone!!! Feliz lunes!!! This past week I learned a lot about trusting in first promptings. The Spirit is so key to missionary work, and oftentimes its easy to second or third guess what God is trying to tell us. Following that first prompting is how you see miracles! They are all around you, we just need the patience and faith to recognize them. I went on exchanges this week with Sister Talbot! Love her! It was nice to just take a break from all the craziness in our area :). We had a dinner with two members who haven't been able to come to church and when we shared our spiritual thought about covenants, one of them opened up about what's been holding her back. I was prompted to share some of the challenges I've gone through and as I did, I felt the Spirit so strong and so much compassion and love for this sister who I'd just met. I think she just needed to know she was loved, and I hope she felt that from her Heavenly Father. That's the blessing of being a mi...

Uno Por Uno

Hey everyone!!! Can't believe I missed writing after TRANSFER WEEK! Actually I can because that week was absolutely crazy! My old companion Hermana Hibbard finished her mission and is back home, I'm going to miss her so much! She was exactly what I needed to start my mission here in Kentucky, definitely a huge blessing in my life. She taught me how to make a mission fun, to give everything your all, and to always speak from the heart. My new companion and trainer is Hermana Peine! I call her Hermana Panini :). I'm her first trainee, and she was actually Hermana Hibbard's first trainee, love all the posterity around here. I already love her so much, she's encouraging and positive and has amazing Spanish! Humidity finally set in down here, makes for some lovely hair :). But I've loved the warm weather and thunderstorms! For some reason I've been so sleepy every morning, so Hermana Peine wakes me up by throwing this stuffed dog at my head, it's sadly really...

Momentos Para Recordar

Hola a todos!!! There are moments as a missionary that you can never really forget. This week's temple trip was one of those moments. Pedro, a recent convert that my companion taught, came to the temple for the first time to do baptisms for the dead. We got to watch him enter the font and make those sacred covenants for those who have passed. The part I will always remember was as he came out of that water, he was so full of the Spirit, his whole countenance was light, and he was just so happy. Not the temporal, worldly kind of happy, the joy that is only attainable through the gospel. We got a call from a friend the next day about how Pedro felt so inspired to be a better person, and how much he wanted to go back to the temple, and it just made my heart so full. It's moments like these that make the hard days worth it. We had a lesson with Pedro at his friends' home, the Vidals, later that week, and were blessed with another one of those unforgettable moments. Pedro's ...

Una Gran Obra

Feliz lunes!!! I'll make this one short for y'all :) I had my first exhanges this week, so I got to hang out with Sister Walker! It was so much fun! As Spanish missionaries we don't do much of the typical door knocking or street contacting, a lot of our friends come from English Class and referrals. But since I got to be an English missionary for the day, I got to see the whole other side of missionary work! That morning we did comp study in this cute little coffee shop with our blueberry lemon scones and then had a lesson/bible study with one of their friends where we read the story of the woman with the issue of blood (my favorite). We got slushies later that day which just reminded me of the 711 trips as a kid :). We got to spend some time in a neighboorhood just knocking doors which was actually kind of nervewracking at first. I wanted to go to this one house, and as we walked up to it, the garage opened and this man came out in a wheelchair. We talked to him and asked ...
